What a sight it was! This past weekend, the streets of Worcester were transformed into a sea of tinsel, fairy lights, and smiling faces for the Kidical Christmas Mass.
If you weren’t there, you missed a truly spectacular celebration of community, cycling, and festive cheer. The turnout was incredible—arguably one of our most popular rides to date—proving once again that there is a massive appetite for safe, fun, and inclusive cycling in our city.
The Highlights
- A Sea of Decorations: From cargo bikes turned into sleighs to toddlers sporting reindeer antlers, the effort put into the “bike-o-rations” was second to none.
- Safety in Numbers: As always, the “marshalled bubble” provided by our amazing volunteers ensured that riders of all ages—from those in balance bikes to grandparents—could enjoy the city streets without worry.
- The Atmosphere: There’s something truly special about the sound of dozens of bicycle bells ringing out Christmas tunes while bystanders stop to wave and cheer.
- A Growing Movement: Seeing so many new families join the regulars highlights how much the Kidical Mass movement is growing here in Worcester.
Why We Ride
While the event was full of festive fun, the message remains clear: Worcester wants to cycle. By reclaiming the streets for just an hour, we demonstrate what our city could look like if we prioritized people-friendly infrastructure. Every child who pedaled through the city center on Saturday represents a future where active travel is the norm, not the exception.
“It was heartwarming to see the city through a child’s eyes today—safe, festive, and full of friends. This is why we do what we do.” — A Bike Worcester Volunteer
A Huge Thank You
This event wouldn’t have been possible without:
- Our Marshals: For keeping us safe and organized.
- The Riders: For showing up in such great numbers and bringing the energy.
- The Local Community: For the waves, the smiles, and the patience as our festive convoy passed through.
What’s Next?
If you enjoyed the Christmas Mass, don’t let the momentum stop here! We have plenty of rides and advocacy projects planned for 2026. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, there’s a place for you in the Bike Worcester family.
Keep an eye on our social media channels for the announcement of our first ride of the New Year!
