Can you believe the Droitwich Cycling, Walking & Wheeling Group (DCWWG) has officially been operating for 1 year? This past milestone year has been all about growth, connection, and making active travel an irresistible choice for everyone in Droitwich.

As the sun comes out and we head into a beautiful summer season, here is a look back at our community updates, regional successes, and grassroots milestones from March through June 2026.

🚀 Key Highlights & Milestones

• Spotlight on the Bike Bus Programme:
  • St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Route: After months of careful route mapping and safety assessments, we have locked in our official launch date for Wednesday, 8th July 2026! This supervised weekly route is designed to build road confidence for younger pupils aged 5–10.
  • Westacre Middle School Continuous Success: Our pioneer Bike Bus continues to reduce school-gate congestion, bringing focused, ready-to-learn students to the classroom every single week—even through unpredictable spring showers!
• March 2026 Big Walk & Wheel Success: Droitwich Spa High School achieved an outstanding national ranking, logging over 2,000 active journeys and finishing 20th in the country!
• Inaugural Critical Mass Ride: On 25th April 2026, we hosted our very first Critical Mass ride starting from Lido Park, celebrating visibility and cycling solidarity.
• “Room to Ride” Launch: In June, our team proudly supported the official launch of Bike Worcester’s brand-new “Room to Ride” campaign advocating safer overtaking distances. You can check out the launch video on YouTube by searching “Bike Worcester”!

🔧 Dr. Bike Workshops & Community Pop-Ups

Our dedicated volunteer mechanics have been incredibly busy keeping local riders safe, aligned, and tuned up with several Dr. Bike Sessions across the region:

If you are looking to get out and explore the beautiful Worcestershire countryside this summer, try these top curated picks:

• Leigh Court Barn Ride: 14 miles (one-way) of scenic, flat lanes.
• Greyfriars’ House Loop: A 17-mile round-trip full of local history and culture.
• The Riverside Café Challenge: A 31-mile round-trip perfect for a weekend group outing.

🤝 Volunteer Opportunities

Our group runs entirely on the passion, time, and energy of local people. We are currently looking for:

• Bike Repair Mechanics: Carry out safety checks and basic maintenance. All tools and training are provided—beginners are completely welcome!
• Bike Bus Marshals: Help supervise children on our school runs, ensuring safety. Regular or occasional availability is greatly appreciated.
